Dr Jun Zhao co-organises an hackathon for early years

We are pleased to share that Dr Jun Zhao was invited to co-organise the first Early Years Innovation Challenge with Oxford Edge.

In partnership with Babyzone, the hackathon brought together researchers, students, practitioners, and entrepreneurs to design practical, scalable AI solutions for the earliest stage of life — from conception to age five.

Students and researchers from the University of Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and beyond came together for this 24-hour innovation sprint hosted by Oxford Edge and Babyzone. Over just 24 hours, teams moved from problem statements to working demos, exploring how AI can be used responsibly to support children and families in the first five years of life.

We are pleased to share that team member Dr Isobel Voysel was part of the runner-up team, who will follow up with BabyZone to further prototype their prototype, In-Between, to support overstretched parents be more present with their children.

Learn more about the sprint please read BabyZone’s write-up and video cast.
